Postdoctoral Research Positions:

We are currently employing chemistry, molecular biology and genetic techniques to develop new methods for molecular evolution in different cell types. Meanwhile, evolved molecules are being used to address various biological questions such as protein-protein interactions, composition of pathways and complexes, etc. We are also developing new approaches for imaging cellular activities.

We welcome highly motivated individuals with training in molecular biology, cell biology, and neuroscience to join us. We especially welcome candidates that are interested in stem cell biology and have working experience with stem cells.

Currently we have two positions open: The first position is to study how stem cells differentiate into neurons by developing new technologies to investigate the process on the molecular level. This project is supported by the California Institute for Regenerative Medicine (http://www.cirm.ca.gov). The second position is to study the molecular mechanism of synaptic vesicle exocytosis using genetically encoded unnatural amino acids. Candidates should have a recent Ph.D. (within two years) and a strong background in cell biology or molecular biology. Training in molecular neurobiology and experience with stem cells are highly desirable.
